Was finally able to remove it (i think), but continue to have Chrome say Your browser is managed by your organization when it is not.

I should also note that a full scan of the system currently by MalwareBytes AND McAfee AV does NOT completely remove this hijacker from your system, mainly because MalwareBytes simply does not know how to find ALL the instances and modifications this Hijacker is making on your system, and McAfee has always been a bit more concerned with actual viruses and things that do permanent damage to your files on your system.

If you notice a strange new Extension in your list of them, and its the one that cannot be disabled then this is a sign that this Hijacker has in fact gotten on to your system.

In my case it was from being foolish and running an executable file I thought was safe, even though it was from a suspicious source, because scanning the executable itself with McAfee did not find any issues with the file.

It has taken me almost a week to finally get rid of this Hijacker but I now can say that I am back to normal operation.

For me it was a lengthy manual process of finding registry entries and deleting them, deleting extension files manually from Chrome directories, and then finally realizing the last thing the Hijacker had done was changed my DNS server from my normal one to some weird place in Indonesia.

Currently from discussion with other technical support users the easiest way to get rid of this program is to do a system restore from a date before it infected the system, if this is known, and is best done in Safe Mode, and with antivirus software temporarily disabled.

Or there isnt any way or someone dosent feel comfortable in how to get into Safe Mode and temporarily disable their Antivirus programs then hopefully soon a more simplified and comprehensive solution will be forthcoming from MalwareBytes or some of the other major Antivirus manufacturers.

To fix this on a mac, I deleted all google chrome files in my libraries to start fresh.

The really suspicious file was LibraryPreferencescom.google.Chrome.plist that had somehow been set (and continued to be re-set) to open new tabs to searchmine.

After deleting everything, emptying trash, rebooting, then opened chrome - no more incorrect managed by your organization.
